From August 9 to 11, at the 50th Grand Prix of Trois-Rivières, Bertrand Godin will have the honor of driving Gilles Villeneuve’s Schweppes #13 for the return of the legendary ATLANTIC FORMULA series on Trois-Rivières’ racetrack.
He will also defend the first place he won in the Canadian FORMULA 1600 series at the 2018 edition of the Trois-Rivières Grand Prix.
Bertrand Godin is also enjoying a superb start of the season aboard the Mygale # 77 / Groupe À l’infini. He already has three podiums and a pole position to his credit, following the events of the Tremblant Spring Classic and the Grand Prix du Canada de Montréal.
Restoration of the Scheweppes
Marcel Lafontaine contacted Martine Girard of Groupe À l’infini to propose them to invest in Gilles Villeneuve’s Schweppes restoration. Being the team’s main sponsor, the yellow March 74B wore the soft drink brand Schweppes’ colors. Mr. Lafontaine also invited Bertrand Godin to drive this iconic car.
Very honored, Bertrand Godin declared, ¨It is a great privilege that I will have to be aboard the Schweppes # 13, my youth idol. To be back on the racetrack with the Atlantic Formula after so many years will definitely be a highlight for me at the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivières. I cannot wait to be on the track with this car that will bring back memories to the Trois-Rivières public as well as Gilles’ fans.”
Throughout 28 presences in Mauricie, the Atlantic Formula has cemented the reputation of Trois-Rivières as a nursery of talents. Bertrand Godin, Patrick Carpentier, Jean François Dumoulin and Gilles’ brother, Jacques Villeneuve, have been well-known all over the world. The Atlantic Formula races at the GP3R 50th edition will feature a dozen Quebec drivers riding aboard the last three generations of the category.
